Section 01

Getting started

SORT Tools is a modeling suite for Blender, built around precise modeling work: alignment, cuts, live edits and workflow shortcuts, all reached from pie menus and tools you drive with the mouse in the viewport. It assumes you already know Edit Mode, faces, edges and loops.

  • Pies first. Every group of tools opens with one key.
  • Interactive tools. Hover, drag and click in the viewport; the tool shows its state next to the cursor.
  • Help on screen. Press H while a tool runs to see its keys.
  • Everything is remappable, and every tool or pie can be turned off.

Where to start

  1. Install SORT Tools (Section 03).
  2. In Edit Mode, try the Smart Tools 2 pie (V) and, with NEXUS, the Smart Tools 1 pie (C).
  3. When something clicks, remap its key from Preferences → Keymaps.

CORE and NEXUS

Both editions share the same interface and the same bug fixes. NEXUS adds the full arsenal.

Section 03

Install and update

Requires Blender 4.3 or newer, up to 5.2. Developed and tested on Windows; macOS and Linux have not been tested.

Install

  1. Download the .zip from your purchase — do not unzip it.
  2. In Blender: Edit → Preferences → Get Extensions.
  3. Click the arrow in the top-right corner → Install from Disk → pick the .zip.

SORT Tools installs and turns on. Its version ends in -core or -nexus, matching your edition.

Update

  1. Download the new .zip.
  2. Open Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → SORT Tools, General tab, Update box.
  3. Click Install from .zip, pick the file, then restart Blender.

Your hotkeys and settings are kept. To switch edition, install the other edition's .zip over the current one — no uninstall needed.

Section 04

Preferences

Find them at Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → SORT Tools, in three tabs.

  • General — turn each tool and pie on or off, set tool and pie options, report a bug (Get Support) and install updates.
  • Keymaps — remap every hotkey.
  • Customize — theme and HUD color presets, and SORT Look, a ready-made viewport look for modeling work.

Settings are saved in Blender's config folder: they survive updates and reinstalls.

Edge Cutter in Edit Mode has no key of its own: choose it in the Smart Tools 1 pie. Inside any tool, press H for its keys; Left Click confirms and Esc cancels. The Smart Tools 2 tools can get direct keys (off by default, in General → Pie Settings); if you turn them on, Alt + Q (Cursor Loop) clashes with SubD On / Off. The View pie takes ` from Blender's own: turn it off in General → Activate to get that back.

Section 06

Troubleshooting and support

If none of these help, use Preferences → SORT Tools → General → Bug Report → Get Support.

Blender says it's not a valid add-on.
The download is incomplete. Download the .zip again and don't unzip it.
SORT doesn't show up after installing.
Search for SORT in the Add-ons list. If it's there but off, tick its checkbox.
A hotkey doesn't work or clashes with another add-on.
Blender or another add-on probably uses the same key. Remap one in Preferences → SORT Tools → Keymaps.
